Week 26 - The first Six Months Come to a Close

So here we are, 6 months in. So this seems like a good time to reflect on what has been achieved so far. We are 181 days in and as of today I have finished 225 models. I have completed 3 sets of models and am closing in on more. When I started this blog I posted this picture:

So I'm not the best at sticking to what I thought I would paint... What I have got is another photo, showing what I would like to think will be painted in the next 6 months, all 121 of them:

This will let me finish off the Blindwater Minions, my French Dystopian Wars, Dreadball Season 2 (in the bags at the back) and my Kirai Crew. Aside from that the Corporation Marines are quick to paint and so I should be able to finish up early, with any luck.

As for this week, I finished up the French battleship and four more frigates. I incorporated a blue into the models, this makes me much happier with the scheme and has been added onto last weeks models.

With the DW league starting this gives me the first increment painted. If I paint up one unit each week then I can easily keep up with the increments. Aside from that I will paint up some odds and ends. I have been informed that this weekend the second shipment of KOW is being sent out which is great and gives me another KOW army. As this one will be fairly small I can see myself assembling it and painting it in the near future. I have also started selling off old projects as I simply can't keep on top of them all. This means I should have an air compressor in the next few weeks and may be able to try out some airbrushing! The Corp bases are coming along, I have begun the process of painting up plants and preparing the bases. Pics will follow once they are done, hopefully before the Gaming Weekend!

Week 25 - Surge of Progress

So as we close in on the half year mark it seems I have had a surge of inspiration. This week has seen the completion of the last 3 Zombicide survivors, 10 Void Sirens Dreadball players, the last 6 Corporation Heavy Weapon team models for the starter and 4 French frigates for Dystopian Wars. Whew... Pics below.

I may still tweak the Dystopian Wars paint scheme a little, possibly edge the grey stripes with a mid tone blue... The bases on the corp marines are a work in progress. The plan is to use a dark brown wash then begin populating the bases with painted plants and leaf scatter. Possibly some grass tufts... Think middle of the bush level populated too, a real Catachan style world.

I plan to try and finish up the whole French DW fleet next week as well as the Corp bases as much as possible. I also managed to undercoat most of Kirai's crew and the Infinity models I have. They may see some work over the coming weeks. I also plan on grabbing some Blazing Sun DW, I'm not sure when that will arrive however. The tiny fliers for DW have kind of messed with my model count, I'm not convinced they should be one each but I haven't started any so don't know how much work they are yet.

On the Dreadball front I beat Mark, netting myself 3rd place overall. The league was fun and went fairly well. There were some issues but it was a learning experience, I'm sure the next one will go much better. With all the extra teams available people may even be able to pick who they want to play with! My star player was Frank "the tank", a guard who accounted for no less than 4 casualties in the last game, netting himself an upgrade to level 4. Not that it matters, but it was certainly impressive.

Week 24 - Rangers Inbound

Another week down! So I travelled up to Auckland yesterday for an X-wing tournament. Having to borrow all the models from a mate and not having played much it should come as no surprise that I lost, lots. So much so that I came last overall... But I put up a decent fight in almost all of the games, so it wasn't all bad!

This week I managed to finish up the full 10 man unit of Rangers and got a decent start on the heavy weapon teams. While they didn't get finished this week they wont take too long next week. That will let me prepare the bases and start detailing them. With them done that means I have 2 starter sets for playing Warpath, leaving just 3 Zombicide survivors to wrap up the set and my French Dystopian Wars fleet, then I am covered for the Hamilton Wargaming Weekend. I need to look over what I have got for DW and focus on a colour scheme. I tried this a while ago but didn't like the result, I'm still having the same issue with the Veer-myn. I also have the Void Sirens team to finish up, there could be quite a bit of progress this week it seems...

Oh and I lost the last round of Dreadball last week, so I am now playing off for third. It was a great game, Forge Fathers vs Forge Fathers, we both scored at least once and had a couple extra shots, I just couldn't roll high enough on a last ditch effort to steal the win. From memory it is me and Mark fighting it out for third place, hopefully in this rematch I will be able to score some points!
