Week 10 - A New Chapter and Hiatus
So with the birth of my daughter early Friday morning there hasn't been much progress on anything this week. So with this recent development there isn't likely to be much progress until the sleep cycles get sorted out and the energy levels rebound. But everyone is happy and healthy which is the important thing. So until then I will be a bit quiet on the blog front. If I am repeating myself, blame the sleep deprivation. So tired, much sleep, wow.

Week 9 - Making Prizes
So just a short post this week. With everything that is happening in real life right now I haven't had much time to build or paint things. I have had some time today though so I made an effort to get one of the prizes for the X-wing tournament I am organising made. The tournament has a maximum of 12 players and once the rental fee is paid I am left with only about enough prize money for two X-wing ships as prizes. This wouldn't have been a problem if I hadn't already advertised prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd...
To remedy this I decided to make a 'gameplay bundle' consisting of a set of 6 asteroids (with the same base size as the ones in the starter) and a play mat. This required me to actually make some, of course, so with everything going on I really have to get them done to save myself some stress later. So what I have got done today is a pair of play mats and the acrylic base pieces for the asteroids. Photos of the two play mats are below, each of them are about 40" by 60".
Hopefully those are nice enough to give away as prizes... The winners will at least be able to pick what they want on the day. I'm quite looking forward to making ones on MDF for me to play on, they are going to be a while away though.
